I was at the Nats, and felt that the model lived up to all the hype. The weathering was terrific!  It was beautiful.

I have one in the cue-  buying aftermarket stuff for it now, though I may scratch the main and aft guns- they're big enough to do that in that scale.

There is a ton of reference materials for those old corvettes, so I imaging we will see a whole bunch of them in future shows!

TIRED OLD SHIP

Can,t the publishers put anything on the cover but a tired old ship? NA , just joshing.I read the article and was duly impressed with the attention to detail he went to in the build of this weather weary, war weary old corvette. My hat is off to him.I built one and ,not having the research available I just built it out of the box after altering it for real world, real weather water conditions where I lived at the time.

I used to live in the northern CALIFORNIA area of the SAN JOQUIN/SACRAMENTO delta. The winds were real and the waves were too. With an enlarged rudder and tug type propellor she performed like the real thing. It was so satisfying to see the water flow off the decks after she took a head sea.! Now that was realism.I tore her apart some time back to improve ballasting and speed and haven,t put it back together yet.

I am definitely going to weather it like he did. All that he did just re-affirmed  to me that there are ship modelers out there that give it h*%^& and then build another. I say , I am glad to be part of that fraternity,And all I can really say is a hearty WELL DONE!!!      TANKERbuilder
