Is a USS Portland kit available?

I posted an entry earlier about this same topic. Does anyone even know if a USS Portland kit is available or has ever been made?

The USS Portland (LSD-37) was an "Anchorage" class LSD. The only kit I've been able to find of one is a 1/700 scale resin kit. Here is a link to it:

Click on search, then it the search block enter "LSD" It will take you to a kit. It's made by JAG Collective

If you are referring to the WWII heavy cruiser, then no, not at this time. Classic Warships has a kit of her in 1/700th scale resin, but they haven't been producing kits for quite some time. That is the only kit of that ship I am aware of, unfortunately. Some have said that they have converted various late war USS Indianapolis kits to the Portland, but I don't know how involved that is.

I'm refering to the heavy cruiser of WWII (CA-33, not the LSD-37). I have heard of people converting it from the Indianapolis. Don't really want get that involved if I don't have to in converting it.

Corsair Armada? Really? If so, I hope they re-release it; I'd buy that thing in a heart-beat.

I think Jeff is thinking of the Classic Warships Portland, which is currently out of production.

Corsair Armada doesn't have one listed. They list a Chicago and Northampton, which are sister ships. Ok...well, so they are a little different - one was a flagship and one wasn't - but they are same class!

There is a 1/200 paper kit of Portland, full hull model, available. Try PMI, paper models international. Price may be around $30. A google search will get u 2 the site. BCNU, Doc

Yo!
Don't be put off by paper kits. They don't look it. Neither do they have to be converted to plastic. I put up more eye candy of Az.: http://www.fototime.com/inv/0CE8F19D9278B78
This should get you there. The 40' launch has over 40 paper parts (only 5 parts in the kit) The brass prop is near 1/4 the dia of a dime.
The Portland kit I have is 1/200. Az is only 1/250 and still 30" long.
Enjoy. BCNU, Doc
