Please allow me to point out that there is another kit of the 1/225 - 1/400 HMS Victory . . . UPC released one in the 1960's that is obviously the Revell/Lindberg kit, except that UPC painted the copper plates in the same manner as the first releases of the Revell 1/96 kits.  I have compared this kit with the Revell; it is the same kit piece for piece.

For all things Victory- ask to be admitted to Pete-Coleman.com

My 1:100 Vic relies on that site

Thanks for the links Dave.  I've been checking a few of them out.

There is obviously two Revell kits that are (or were) being sold as 1/225 scale. The Revell Kit I have is clearly marked as 1/225 but there is no doubt it is too small.

The pictures below show both the Lindberg & Revell Kits are identical.

Contents of the Lindberg kit (1/400 ?) -

Contents of the 1/225 Revell kit -

Hull Comparison of the two - Lindberg attached to the sprue & Revell loose -

The hulls are 8" long on these kits.

What would the hull length be on the other 1/225 Revell kit?

Thanks.

Hi Adrian

Here's a few sites for the 05408 kit, I believe the gift set also includes the same model.

Two Different 1/225 Revell HMS Victory Kits?
Posted by Tnonk on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 8:40 PM

I picked up an old Lindberg HMS Victory last month on ebay. Not the 1/500 but one a bit larger (1/400 maybe?).  And, while it's really a great little kit, I wanted to get something a little larger.

I bought a 1/225 Revell Victory but when I got it in a couple of days ago I found that it was the same kit as the Lindberg.  Not close, but the same exact kit minus the Lindberg logo inside the hull.

I saw a build of a 1/225 Revell Victory on line and it was a very different kit, apparently a true (?) 1/225 kit? It had a gundeck with molded on gun carriages.

I suppose that it's the Revell Kit 5408-0389 but I'm unsure. Can anyone confirm that for me before I buy another Victory kit that I don't need?

Thanks.
