The difference between 1/700 and 1/720 is so miniscule that unless someone has a digital caliper, they'll never, ever notice the difference. Mix and match with confidence.

Honestly I think he is better off replacing the whole air wing with those that Trumpeter makes.

BTW didn't the Big E carry both the FA-18 and the F-4N before fully transitioning to the FA-18? I seem to remember that they transitioned sometime between 1984 and 1988.

 ddp59:

you want the sea kings for that.

They boarded A-7's with the F-4's and during the transition to F-14's.  F/A-18's came later.

Well, I just thought of something, the airplanes are 1/720 and now de helos will be 1/700 is the difference going to be very noticeable or insignificant?

Is your Enterprise the one with the weird looking Beehive antenna on the roof of the Island?

no, and yes. In other words you couldn't tell even if they were each the correct size, and they won't be.

Well does come from watching The hunt for the Red October many times Wink. Plus when I was on the USS Abraham Lincoln on a VIP cruise back in 91 the Seakings were still flying.

pianodog

OK guys thank you, I just added to the order SH-3 Seaking Helicopter set, and it dose look more like the one use for that particular movie, thank you. Come to think of it I believe the cruise was in the summer of 1990 not 1991.

Actually Ed in the Movie the Helo used was the SH-3 SeaKing not the SH-60B. And the SH-60B wasn't in full use in the fleet in that time period. In fact the SH-3 wasn't removed from fleet use until at least 1993. so you could use either the SH-60B or the SH-3.

EdGrune

At 1:700 scale it is really a don't care.    However for the time period of 'Red October'  the basic SH-60B would be more correct.

In the original movie tie-in kit releases Revell put out a 1:100 scale SH-60B along with a 1:400 USS Dallas LosAngeles-class and a Typhoon/Red October with a totally bogus bulbous bow

The one that I purchase was:

TRP00003437 : HH-60H Rescue Hawk Helicopter set

Because it is the rescue I thought that is was appropriate for the model.

That quite depends on what HH-60 you want as there are several 1/700 scale HH-60's put out by trumpeter.

 RedCorvette:

Trumpeter makes sets of USN helos in 1/700 scale.  They will work OK with 1/720 ships.

Thanks that was a great idea I just order one set of HH 60 and because I am building the USS Enterprise "Hunt for Red October" I also order some Russian Helos to make it a little dramatic ha ha ha ha, thanks again.
