If you have an airbrush, you can overcoat the gray with a very thin translucent coat of flat white, or a whitened gray, to further the "weathered" appearance.

Many thanks for help. Will experiment with those colours. I went to see the Cutty Sark yesterday and the deck has already weathered quite grey. Richard

My life remains in disarray, but, when next I can apply myself  to my box of excess deck pieces, I've set an experiment to try.

This would be a gull grey base, followed by a heavy radome tan semi-transparent wash.  This would then be sanded to some degree.  Then probably highlighting/shading in "wood" colors, followed with a burnt sienna wash.

Ive tired the other way, using mixes of DAK Sand, Khaki Drab, and Panzer Tan--all cut 50% white.  Then, overlaying a haze grey wash.  This is a good effect, but, it still "scans" to my eye as a "paint effect" not a replication of natural effect.

I hope this is a simple question. Please what paint colour or mixes do I use to match the grey colour of the teak decks on the Cutty Sark? It seems such as difficult colour to replicate. Many thanks Richard
