USS Ticonderoga Cv-14
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 8, 2004 6:22 PM
I just got the Hasegawa USS Ticonderoga and was wondering if anyone has built this ship. How did it go together and where there any fit problems. Also if anyone has some detail photos of Essex class carriers in WWII could you possibly post them here..

TIA

Hey Matt,

The Hasegawa Tico kit has been around for years...and aside from some a few glaring inaccuracies, it builds well...

For photos of the Essex Class long hulled ships, I suggest looking at the Naval Historical Center's photo archives. There's more than enough there to help you out.

Hey Jeff,

What were some of the inaccuracies. I want to make this ship as close to what it appeared like when my grandfather served on it. I think he served on it from 44-45 or 46.

As far as the Naval Historical Centers photos i couldn't find any close up shots on the Bridge/superstructure..

By the way thanks for the help

Ahh geez, You had to ask, huh?

Larry Gertner did an article a number of years ago on correcting the Hasegawa kits, and Burt McDowell (the Haze Gray Admiral) did another article on the same subject...I'll have to see if I can find them...

Time to dig into the archives.
