A question about detail parts
Posted by tates on Friday, June 22, 2012 9:14 PM

I recently got a tamiya 1/350 USS Missouri kit and I was planning on getting a detail kit for it. I've done some snooping around and I like the look of the Lionroar kit, but it doesn't specify if it's compatable with the tamiya kit. Also if anyone knows of some other detail kits that are out there.

thanks guys

According to SprueBrothers, it is meant for the Tamiya kit.

FlyHawk Model seems to be a close contender with both a regular and super deluxe edition.  With those prices, might as well go for broke and get one those wooden replacement decks as well.

There are a few other brands found at HobbyEasy.

regards,

Jack

I looked at sprue brothers and you are indeed correct. I've been looking around and haven't found any flyhawk kits. I did like the pontos wooden deck sprue brothers had. But I have a lot of kits to finish before I start on this one, so I have lots of time to mull it over.

You could try either Gold Medal Models in the U.S. or White Ensign Models in the U.K. I've been using White Ensign etched brass sets and they have some beautiful Quality stuff. Gold Medal stuff looks v.good too, there are also Toms' Modelsworks and Veteran models as well. They are all worth a look even if the don't have anything specifically for your kit, they have plenty on offer!

On the bench-1/350 Zvezda Varyag, Trumpeter Slava class Varyag and Tamiya CVN65 Enterprise. 1/400 Academy Titanic and 1/96 DeAgostini Victory.
