I hope you end up posting your build Tates, I haven't seen the Trumpeter Nimitz yet, Warshipguy is so right about the aircraft, Trumpeters aircraft kits are excellent, also I picked up a set of Gallery Models Marine aircraft which are also excellent!

On the bench-1/350 Zvezda Varyag, Trumpeter Slava class Varyag and Tamiya CVN65 Enterprise. 1/400 Academy Titanic and 1/96 DeAgostini Victory.

Thanks for the help. I've decided to go with the Nimitz kit.

Tracy is correct. I have both kits and they can both be improved significantly by available aftermarket photoetch. Nimitz comes with the beautiful Trumpeter aircraft while Enterprise is a bit dated.  There is a current thread running by A. M. Jorge who is doing a beautiful job on his Tamiya Enterprise, but he is doing an exceptional job with the GMM PE set.

One advantage of the Nimitz kit coupled with the GMM set is that you can build most of the ships in the class.

Better is subjective. Fit seems about the same, both require re-work if you aim for accuracy, Trumpeter's Nimitz at least provides a hangar DECK (no bulkheads) if you want a little bit of a start on detailing.

Big E vs Nimitz

Hey guys I've been looking to do a 1/350 aircraft carrier.  I like the look of the Tamiya big E. But I've always kinda been a Nimitz guy. I was looking at the Trumpiter Nimitz kit. I was wondering which is the better kit. Any opinons and experience you guys have would be greatly appreciated.
