Revell U.S.S. Kearsarge

It sounds intriguing! I have never tried that method. I love it when I see American companies expanding their lines and establishing the state of the art; I just wish that American companies would expand their lines beyond American subjects.

Each will have 15-18 bulkheads with filler blocks fore and aft.  Each bulkhead will have extensions that, when the bulkheads are assembled to the profile, will be glued to a work board.  Hull will be planked upside down, ala Hahn method.

If you do the Revell kit then surf over to steelnavy(dot)com and check out their build and corrections.  Note, the Revell Kearsarge is 1883 fit and not the Civil War fit.  From what steelnavy says you'll be better off getting the Alabama and converting it.

Anyway, I'll be getting the Kearsarge in 2014 and will do it as an out-of-the-box build.  Except for the hardcores nobody will know any better.

I can't wait to see them, although I do prefer solid hull kits because of the more accurate hull forms over typical plank on bulkhead kits.  But, if you follow your practice of increasing the number of frames or bulkheads as in your Jefferson Davis kit, that will probably not be an issue.  I have never had accuracy issues with Bluejacket kits, whether pob or solid hull.

These will be 1/96 scale, plank on bulkhead with lots of laser-cut parts.

I know that I am patiently awaiting both kits, and have already told the missus that we are starting a seperate savings account to buy them both at the same time!  If it takes until 2014, the better for that savings account! Keep up your good work!

I don't work that fast...  ALABAMA and KEARSARGE will be available sometime prior to 2014, the 150th anniversary of their engagement.

Hoover12, You might want to wait for  the Bluejacket  Kearsarge model to be released if accuracy is important. Should be later this year.

There is a set of the Revell Kearsarge and Alabama being sold on eBay right now.

On ebay, also look for the CSS Alabama since I understand  the two kits are very similar.
