No, I found the surface quality excellent, as is the molding detail. Fit is excellent.  This kit is possibly the best ship kit I've ever worked on.  My only gripe is in instructions- there was no rigging info.  I certainly am looking forward to more ships from Zvezda.  I had built a few older Zvezda kits and this is a marked improvement.

Question, is the surface of the molded plastic a little on the rough side?  I've bought the 787 airliner from these folks and the plastic has a very slight texture to it; easily handled with sanding, but not your typical tamiya-revell-etc. fare.

Thanks, guys.  I never thought of looking on the box, and Tracy, that is a good reference!

Another resource is White Ensign Models, manufacture of the "Colourcoat" line of enamel paints. They have the following guide for famous ships, which lists colors and the appropriate colourcoat-brand paint, but this may help in finding an equivalent:

HMS DREADNOUGHT

1906-12 and WW1: Overall #2 Grey (Colourcoats GW 02)
1913: Overall #3 Grey (Colourcoats GW 03)

Wood decks: natural teck (Colourcoats C 01)
Steel decks: #4 Grey (Colourcoats GW 04)
Underwater hull: RN Antifouling Red (Colourcoats RN 19
Anchor cables: white (Colourcoats C 03)

No apparent boot-topping.

Don,

Look on the edge of the box where the top is attached to the rest of the box and the full list of colors is displayed. Zvezda color 54 equates to Model Master 1728 Light Ghost Gray.

Starting my Zvezda Dreadnought. I find they left off a color callout.  There is a color 54 called for, but in their color chart they do not give a Testors equivalent for that color.  What is 54 in the color of whatever brand they use in the callout (Russian font).  From drawings and graphics I have found, and completed models, the places they call for 54 seem to be the same color as30, flat gull gray.  Can I use the same for all the parts calling for both colors?   The 54 is to be used on hull sides and some of deck fittings, while the 30 is called for on other deck areas.
