Problem is that the New Jersey is the only game in town for 1/350 scale Flight 2 Iowa's while Missouri is the only game in town for WWII Iowa's.
Paul Budzik Looking at the box contents from the Lucky Models site, I don't see much different. The photoetch that they show is pretty minimal. Looks to be the same warmed over New Jersey. Paul Budzik Current Project: paulbudzik.com/.../Enterprise_Scratch.html

well the Tamiya New Jersey showed up at Sprue Bros.
and from the kit description they added new 5" guns and more Photo Etch detail than you can shake a stick at so that would explain the rise in cost for that but I still think the new Missouri is still going to be a new tool.
Though I do hope that they do the planes on the Missouri some justice and mold them in clear plastic with better molding.
keilau Last time, Tamiya changed the box and model number, doubled the price, but did not touch the molding. I will wait to see what they do this time.

Ah...the old "Local Hobby Shop" rumor.
I went out to get the Tamiya Missouri last week but my LHS said that Tamiya did not include it in their latest shipment because they are working on the improvement of the kit.
Do you have any substantiation? They just rereleased the New Jersey.

I would prefer a 350 scale version to pair with the awesome Yamato
I see that Trumpeter will be releasing a 1/200 Bismark by the end of the year, so maybe they make the Missouri in that scale, it would be awsome!
On the bench: So many hanger queens.
I was already incline to get a Missouri and use the LionRoar super update kit. I am glad postponing it hoping for a new Missouri paid off. Not soon though but it is definitely coming.
Darn the bad luck! Right when I am finishing a 1943 USS New Jersey modified from the Tamiya Missouri using Tom's Model Works open-bridge conversion set, Eduard photoetch, Artwox wooden deck, andbrass 16" and 5"/38 barrels. Oh, well . . .
I don't think there were any molded in inclined ladders in the new tool Yamato so maybe there won't be any in the Missouri. I think Mighty Mo's appearance in Battleship may have spurred this new tooled kit along.
Tamiya has now stopped shipping their 1:350 Missouri kit because they are developing an upgraded version. No molded in stairs pleeeese.
