Hi everybody!
I usually spend my time in the armor forum, but thought that I would post a Wip-thread here. The reason? A friend of mine asked me this summer if I couldn't build a huge German S-boot that he could put on a shelf in his house. And since I lack self-preservation I said: Yeah, ok! And this even though I haven't built a plastic ship for the last 30 years!
So, I thought that it would be appropriate to document my struggles in a wip-thread, and maybe get some input from more experienced modellers in this forum. Let's see how it goes...
Anyway, here's what showed up on my doorstep. An Italeri Schnellboot S-100 in the 1/35 scale, in a HUGE box with a lot of stuff! The hull measures some 40 inches.
And here's the rest of the plastic, covering half of my kitchen table:
Also included was a pretty thick instruction sheet, a nice color booklet with some historica info on the S-boot, some nice PE-sheet, decals and a bag of threads and screws that is needed to hold the thing together.
Here's the thing landed on my work table. I had to clear the whole table from other kits to make it fit:
Before starting on the hull, I thought that I would start with building a nice cradle for the ship, using wood and brass. The kit comes with a plastic cradle that seems practical, but not that exclusive.
Well, that's what I've accomplished so far without messing up the kit.
