Decent price for a 1/350 Alabama
Posted by SuperNova-SS on Friday, October 12, 2012 3:36 PM

Ok, so I was in Hobby Lobby recently and back in the clearance isle there was a Trumpeter 1/350 Alabama that has been there for ages.  The price?  A fairly reasonable $29.60.  No kidding.  However, I thought that I should pass since I am already working on other things.  So am I crazy?

That's not reasonable, that's crazy cut-rate.

That works out to about a penny per part! Maybe it's missing it's decals....(SNARK!)

For that price you can afford to throw all the PE and Gator masks at it you care to.

EDIT: Yep, Kenny makes a set!

No Kidding!  I thought I did pretty well in our local Hobby Lobby's clearance table.  I got a Trumpeter 1/350th  USS Lexington and their 1/350th USS North Carolina for  $50.00 each...

Ummhhh, my LHS gave me a 25% off coupon as a preferred customer. I was looking at the CV-13 kit which retails for about $ 129.00.

I too got the Trumpeter Alabama at Hobby Lobby clearance. Tax and all it was just under $40USD. Now, I can afford the PE.

I passed the same deal at a local HL a few months ago.  Now the HL will not carry Trumpeter ships.  Talk about a Homer Simpson "Dow" moment.  They also had the 1/350 Lexington for $60.

I also still kick myself for never ordering a Heller Victory when Model Expo was selling them out for $50.  A month after they sold out, the kit shot up to $200 by all the other vendors.

Note to self, if no intent to build, get it anyway, can always sell it later and maybe make a few coins to buy supplies or something.
