Thanks.Nothing special.Brush painted with Polly Scale and Testors acrylics.Weathered with Tamiya rust powder. The rigging is Cabela's 3lb. test fly tippet.Flags and pennants are from Tuaro. With both kits the fore and aft decks needed a bit of sanding for a good fit.Definately test fit first.

I hate to tell you this but the swordfish on u- 96 was green not blue. Also the swordfish was cutting through a communication line and the slogan  "whose cut the line" appeared below it. As far as the model goes  you have done a fine job!  I have built 11 of them in 1/144 and you have nailed the weathering better than me. so now i must hang my head and sit in the corner.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Well, if the decal sheet only gives you blue, what do you do? Anyway, you did a fine job on the Unterseeboot.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Thanks guys.Research indicates there is definately some debate on the color of the 9th Flotilla swordfish used on the real boats. The cut line did seem to be a part of the decal now that you mention it.I had no idea what it was.I ditched it so I could place the decals where they appear on the movie version of U-96.

BTW timmy,I'd love to see some of your work.

Just recently moved to Nevada and my subs were crushed under their own display case. not the end of the world however. Most have little damage so as soon as I figure out photobucket I will post pictures. Yea I know Revell only provided the blue swordfish with the decals. this is correct for all the subs in the 9th flotilla it was just u-96 that was green. The movie Das - Boot didnt get it right either  theirs was dark grey.  But when it comes to sub colors and insignia there are a lot of unknowns so build what you like. Just dont trust Revell when it comes to U-217!

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
