Greetings fellow modelers! Hope everyone is doing well. Here's my latest build fresh off the bench.
Not a very good fitting kit - the superstructure parts break down was bizarre. Almost like a jigsaw puzzle, but after much cutting, sanding and a few colorful metaphors I got it together! The detail was pretty soft throughout so I did a lot of scratch building and robbing of the parts box for various bits. The helo is from Trumpeter, the P/E is Tom's generic railings as well as scrap P/E bits I had lying about, and the rigging is UNI-Canais fly tying thread. I'm very proud of the radar array I scratched from bits of P/E - the kit part was just a blob of plastic!
Well, I've rambled on enough - here she is:
And here's the Alfa SSN sub. Again not a good fit. The hull took much scraping and much sanding to get right, and then re-scribed.
Despite all the extra work- (or maybe because of it) I had alot of fun on this project. I'm happy with the result and I think they look neat sttin' next ot each other. Thanks for lookin' and comments/critiques always welcomed! Happy modeling!

P.S. I just saw an ancient post of mine from YEARS ago about the IJN Kagero. I was wondering where that popped up from - Moderators?
