A salvageable reminder-OR- Don,t throw that damaged model away.
There, see,I didn,t yell ! Now to the post. Do you have damaged models laying about in the "round-file" stack ? Don,t do it . You would be surprised ,what beautiful "What-If" models you could create with these unfortunate members of your collection.
What-If, That constructs in my mind endless possiblities of building things that didn,t come in the box or in some cases only existed in prototype versions. These of course, have ,in most cases not been seen by the majority of us.
Now,that smashed aircraft carrier can become a dril and research ship. The plane can become an aircraft test bed for a new engine or wing or something. Speaking of that,I have a kit of a field gun (self-propelled) that was only made in very limited runs, say, two or three units.
My budget took a large hit when I replaced the original with a new one. The original took a six foot plunge off a very high shelf. Now the old one, chassis repaired,is carrying around a bridge that folds twice when it opens. See what I mean?
The last aircraft that was damaged was a PBY-5A. It is now configured for forest fire duty, just like my Canadair. Nuff said. TANKER-builder
