BISMARK , TIRPITZ and my folly - THE KRONPRINZE in 1/200

HI ;

  I am sure those of you who have the primary ships named have your hands full .I thought it would be neat to try my hand at something new.In the greater part of the continent folks are familiar with PAPER or if you prefer , CARD ,  modeling .

 Well I have the 1/200 KRONPRINZE in paper . I thought ,"how , neat , Why don't I use the paper model parts as patterns and do her in plastic sheet and other parts stock ? "

Dumb , move , Well , not really . I just didn't think it would take that long .Needless to say , without photos you can't judge my progress , but the decks go on this month , MAYBE ! This certainly gives new meaning to LARGE ship models , doesn,t it ?

 I was going to try my EUROPA liner ( the modern one .) Glad I didn't .  Will keep you posted occassionally . Tankerbuilder

This should be cool

It's not about how fast you get there or even where you're going. It's whether you enjoy the ride.

I had the same idea with sailing ships in card . . . just convert the card "template" to plastic and build her as with a plank-on-bulkhead wood kit. I never tried it, though.  I will be watching with keen interest!

Hi;

I have done one sailing ship (waterline) and it didn't come out to bad .The main thing was transferring the patterns for the various line anchoring points to stiffer , stronger card .

They actually are quite surprisingly fun to do .    Tanker-builder
