Diorama of the Battle of Trafalgar!

There does appear to be some small inaccuracies with the British ships.  One of Nelson's clever IFF ideas - in addition to the famous yellow and black paint job - was to paint out the iron hoops on the masts of his fleet to further distinguish them from the common practice of black hoops in all navies.  You'll notice no black hoops on the masts of the restored Victory today.  This was done in the 1970's after scholars noted an entry in the Victory's signal log that showed Nelson yelling at one of his ships to paint out her black hoops to match the rest of the fleet as they formed for battle.

I also don't see the ensign that Nelson ordered flown from the forestay of every ship on any of the British models - although I may have missed it in my quick scan of the diorama.

I have seen this Dio on FB also and was blown away with it. The size of it is Huge. I think that you will find that they were all scratchbuilt or converted from mainstream Kits.......Cheers mark

I agree that this diorama is fabulous!  I have it bookmarked, and would like to see it in person one of these days.  After seeing this the first time I have been thinking about kit bashing one of the ships in my stash to the Santasima Trinidad.  Not quite sure how and which one, but  one of these days....

Leviathan in the foreground (British), St. Augustine (Spanish) beyond. But the base is a puzzle, as these two are a small part of a giant diorama at 1:50 that includes the Sta. Trinidad and a half dozen other ships and sloops.

At that scale the masts are 5-6 feet tall!

This is a fabulous thing, and worth going through the various sites on the www.

Makes me want to get out the 1:100 Victory and get that upper gun deck on.

I don't know. I think the Spanish ones since the website is from Spain.
