Haven't been to the N.J. shore for a few years, but there used to be a couple of (supposed to be) post WWII PTs that were converted to carrying shore goers on rides up and down the shoreline. They sure looked like PTs from the deck down and sounded great when they opened them up as they went by the crowded beaches. One of them was actually painted PINK. Sad That's the one that used to run out of Wildwood.

2 centsHi:Cool

I know , don't we have enough of these ? Well , how about this ? There are P.T. boats out there , They are very rare , that are still motoring along as private yachts AND workboats

If you happen to have some or come across some at yard sales and flea markets that are badly built or just plain real glue bombs . here,s your chance.

You can start by removing the deck and everything above . Then let your imagination take hold . There were many that kept the old luxury yacht lines in their conversions . They would've been very roomy conversions too .

There were some that kept the forward cabin and cut wells behind the engine area and midships to use as dive and salvage boats . I know of two that for years took tourists around a lake in N.Y. Then there was the ones that went to work as fishing boats .

All these were modified by removing the three monster engines and replacing them with the marine V-8s of the day . They are out here , you just have to look . No one wrote books about what the P.T.s did after hostilities , but many kept on for quite a few years .

I personally DON'T have photos , but am working from memory of some I saw as a child and a teen . I wouldGeeked ask everyone to think about it. There were even some early E-boats and SUBCHASERS turned to this duty .

Check around and you might find some interesting POST WAR P.T. boats and their counterparts . It's fun to have them live again in a different , albeit rare form.          Tanker-builder
