Novelty Radio to Model Ship Project
Posted by Vagabond_Astronomer on Saturday, January 19, 2013 3:06 PM

Hello All,

I posted this over on my blog today -

A Proper Santa Maria Model... As A Radio?

I'm going to toss this out there; how would any of my fellow builders here approach this?

Cheers,

Rob

Only if you are an experienced RC ship person.  RC sailing ships are neither the easiest form of RC ship to sail, nor to build.  SM would even be a challenge to an experienced RC sailing ship person.

Rob removed an AM radio from the model. I don't believe he is attempting to make it Radio Controlled, he is just using the hull as a starting point to make a model.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

An RC Santa Maria. I built some 1/144 RC ships back in the early 80's (HMS Hesperus, a sub chaser, small vessels). A sailing ship?

Functional rigging on the mizzen would be a bear all by itself, you'd need a false keel to make up for...

Oh yeah, it'd be hard!
