My oldest son served on the Bainbridge during the Maersk Alabama captain rescue. When I still worked at the Norfolk Naval Station I would go onboard to visit him. Beatiful ship and well laid out. He couldn't understand my attraction with it. It was just his place of work.

True. I have a lot of friends who served on "cans" and the class fits the bill.

At least the flag will be easy to replace.   I like the build otherwise.  Also, there is something I love about the Burkes!  They look so sinister.

THE FLAG IS WRONG!

His builders NEVER do any research at all for any of their builds, why should this one be any different?

Thank you, Sub.

I'm not a rivet counter, the subject under discussion notwithstanding, but gosh, there's plenty of good flags available out there in AM land.

The flag is wrong because of the stripes (and stars); The bottom stripe of the US flag is red, not white, and there are only ten of them in this flag, not thirteen. And you can tell without counting that there are a lot less than fifty stars. I know the Navy flies large ensigns at times, that is not the issue.

If it was handpainted, OK, look at an authentic one so you know how to do it. It is pretty, though.

I thought the flag was the best part.  Looks good!

Ummm ... sometimes US warships fly really, really big US flags for special reasons. To wit, the USS McInerney:

THE FLAG IS WRONG!

Nice enough model otherwise...

Boy! Is it ever!

The weathering at the waterline is pretty realistic, though it needs to be continued all the way to the bottom of the hull, just for starters. At first glance, it seems to be a good model.
