A VERY LARGE " FICTIONAL " SUBMARINE

Heh, I remember playing with my original old small-scale Seaview and Flying Sub as a kid in a lake on vacation.  So when Moebius released the 'big' Seaviw and Flying sub kits, I of course, had to get them.  They won't be floaters, though, although I may pick up one of the small-scale re-issues to play in the pool with.  :-)

The CulTVman's weblog has a multi-part blog about one gentleman's 57" R/C Seaview build and sail.  It's quite interesting, and includes a lot of modeling techniques.  Highly recommended read, especially if you're a Seaview fan.

I've not only floated it, but it dives under water and returns to the surface.  A few years ago at the SubRegatta, there were several of the Moebius SEAVIEW's running in the pond.  There were also several larger SEAVIEW models, approaching 8 feet long.

You actually floated it .That must've been an awesome sight ! I just want to build mine and use it as a night light. Don't laugh . How many " SEAVIEWS" have you seen as a nightlight ? And yes it is 39 inches long !One big pile of plastic .   Tanker-builder       P.S. Mine's the eight window version .

The Moebius SEAVIEW kits (4 window or 8 window) in 1:128 scale are a full 1 meter long - that's 39" of hull.  It doesn't look like it from the box which is about 12" x 20".  There are quite a few people who have installed rc gear in the SEAVIEW, myself included.

Who is the manufacture of the kit?  Sounds interesting!

Speaking of big sub models, many moons ago, I saw the original studio model of the "Nautilus" at Disneyland in California, which they used in making the movie "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea".  It was a huge and beautiful thing, scratch-built by pros.  It had to be 7 or 8 feet long!
