EdGrune

My preference is White Ensign's Standard Navy Gray #5 with WEM's Standard Navy Deck Gray #20 on the steel decking and WEM's Teak on the wooden portions

Thanks, Ed!  You've confirmed, too, that I was looking for the wrong color when I selected the Floquil paint, it's a good match for haze gray, but the Pennsy was in #5 Standard Navy Gray in 1935.  White Ensign is good, thanks for the tip.

Hi, all,

I'm working on a conversion of the Hobby Boss Arizona into the Pennsylvania, circa 1935.  I'm using Testor's/Floquil Southern Pacific Lettering Gray (acrylic), but it still looks too dark for me, to represent the light gray.

I'm thinking of lightening the Floquil with some white, or using a light gull gray that I have in my paint chest (Model Master, I think it is), or using another maker's paint altogether.

I'm open to suggestions from those of you who build between-the-wars US Navy.  What do you use?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Brad
