The rove nance is correct. The logs of previous model builders are a great help.

My own favorite part, after the hull half castings and aren't they fantastic; are the figures.

GMorrison, thanks for your replt. Being an armor builder for the most part I got this in a lot with another large aircraft kit, the X/YB-35 by AMT/ERTL and two small scale models of the essex aircraft carrier. I do not know if I have the space or the time to complete such a massive undertaking so this badboy may be sold. I was suprised to see a few examples on evil-bay that had no bids and really not much for watchers. The size in and of itself must be intimidating to most hobbyists.LOL. Again thanks for your input.

If this is the big one (1:96 scale), then yes, it is?

The only real problem I see with the Revell 1/96 USS Constitution is that the hull is too thin when viewed through open gunports, and that the decks are in three pieces.  But, these are easily corrected. The problem when looking at the kit on ebay is that it is a very common kit that has been in continuous manufacture since the 1950's.  You really have to look at the particular release of the kit to determine whether it has any real value, as well as the quality of the box.

For example, my favorite release occured in the 1960's; it was released with a very nice painting of the ship at anchor and the kit had no sails. There was a very nice historical booklet, and the box was white around the painting. It was a most attractive kit.  That release typically attracts over $120.00.

Yep.  Was sleeting when we were coming home from church- it has changed over to very heavy snow.  We were planning on going to a concert this afternoon- that is looking problematic.  This may turn out to be a modeling day after all!
