Anyone make an offshore Oil Rig?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 16, 2004 8:45 PM
Yes, this is perhaps off-topic, wasn't sure where to put it (move is need be)

Wanted to build an oil-rig, off shore, and then make a diorama with it, can they be had?

Cheers!

Check out www.walthers.com It is a supplier of model railroad accessories. I believe that I have seen an oil rig kit in their catalog in the past.

My 2 cents [2c] I bought the Revell oil platform only partially completed by someone else several years ago, but haven't got around to cleaning up, painting and weathering the few parts already cemented together. It's fairly interesting and detailed. As I recall it was issued shortly after the Revell atomic reactor electric pwer plant model (which I also built some years back). Have fun!Smile [:)]

Hold On!

Well, I decided to search for it. I remembered seeing it at
Pheonix Models or something like that so did a google search.

Look what I found:

http://www.models2u.co.uk/Shop/en-gb/dept_269.html

Go down the page.

They have it as a release due out August 2004.

Revell must be re-issuing it.

LOL!

The heck with eBay. Just wait a few months and it may show up in NA.

Don't know what the US $ equivalant of 59.99 british pounds is though

I was going to send AttackDonut an e-mail but he doesn't
have it listed. Sure hope he reads this before spending a pile
of dough on eBay.

i would love to have a go at that kit. i work in the oil industry shotblasting and painting subsea equiptment. if you do get it and need exact paint matches let me know and i will post the B.S or RAL numbers. ( the yellow is BS 4800 08E51 - or BS 4800 10E55 if its Texaco. if i remember right ) i could also try and find the FS numbers if need be but we dont use that system at work. slightly off topic, Heller did a model of the Bristows super puma/tiger that is used to serve the rigs. it was in there "bobkit"range i have one and even tho it is a simple kit i think it will look quite nice when built. hope this helps.

Azrog,
Would it be possible to get a copy of the plans for the that kit?
I need a large scale rig, and the instructions would make a good referance.
e-mail me, Thanks

Thanks for the cool links gang.

I want to build a diorama where zombies have over run an oil rig, and are being attacked by a SEAL team, doing off a chopper.

I'm in no hurry to find the kit, I have to plan it out first. So I can wait for the re-issue.

Now...about the atomic reactor from revell.....?
