Model Ship Detailing -How to do it right -- or JOE SIMON'S way .
Hi:
I just finished reading the article in this months magazine .JOE certainly knows his stuff .Now , all you shipmodel readers out there take note .This is about the way I would teach how to do it. Of course , remember I work in many scales LARGER than 1/350 , with the latter being my choice for my personal ship collection . Read the article slowly and MORE than once .You would be surprised how much you can learn .
My hat is off to JOE SIMON and the staff at FINE SCALE MODELER for giving us ship-builders a comprehensive article ,and the BEST one to date .With others about weathering and such , it hit the nail on the head . The only thing I couldn't find ,was any referrence to the rigging material . Maybe I missed it , but I use that material from model railroading that stretches to 700 times it's length .I haven't tried that (stretching it 700 times it's length ) , but it works great and is a whole lot better that stretched sprue ! The name of the stuff is " EZ LINE " and you get 100 feet or 30.5 meters of the stuff on a nice easy to handle reel . Try it when you are rigging .You won't be dissappointed . Great article and great tips .That's what I come to FINE SCALE for . Thanks Tanker-builder
