Higgins Boats
Posted by Dr. Hu on Thursday, March 7, 2013 12:45 PM

Just watched the remake of Robin Hood with Russel Crowe.  What does this have to do with Higgins Boats? Imagine my surprise when, about 3/4 through the movie I found myself watching French knights in armor and soldiers in chain mail landing on a beach in southern England using what appeared to be circa 1944-1945 Higgins boats with oars stuck on them. My daughter thought they may have been surplus from "Band of Brothers" I did provide a bit of a laugh! hmmm the French invade England 900 years before D -Day using Higgins boats for their assault. There is some revisionist history.

Sounds kind of like that Butch Cassidy movie that had a jet flying in the background.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Funny the Germans never figured it out after all those centuries.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

You have to look close . She's there for 1/2 sec. and then ducks behind another crew member.

I could be wrong about the Butch Cassedy film. It's been a very long time since I'v seen it . And theres more than one version of it.  But one of them has a jet flying by just barely visable in the uper left frame. Pretty sure it's the explosion "oops" scene.

I'll watch it tonight and let you know exactly where the scene is. I have the "special edition" directors cut.

Its over three hours long.

O.K.   The scene where they are passing into the Strait of Gibralter.   the sub hits the bottom and all goes quiet.   Just as the captain shines his flashlight on the depth gauge  theres a crew man with his arm outstreached behind him.   In the extreme lower left corner of the screen just below the crewmans arm you will see the prop girl. You may want to slow mo the movie or even pause the scene to see her.  Shes only there for about 1/2 second.
