Revell VII C "Wolf Pack" WIP-pics

That's pretty much the approach I had thought would work, there's plenty of spots to drill small holes without wrecking the model.

What I have done in the past is to drill small holes in the feet and mount them with guitar string wire.

Drill matching holes in the deck and squeese the wires in the feet slightly towardes each other.

This way they stand up with no glue.   The spring action of the wire holds them in place.

 I was thinking maybe just some small pieces of fuse wire glued to the feet to keep them upright, or a circle of clear acetate as a base to glue their feet to.The crew manning the gun aren't a problem, the other two need some stronger support.

 I don't think rubber craft glue or cement would hold these metal figures up though

I'm wondering how to secure these tiny crew's feet to the deck, not permanently though. It's a tricky one.

The figures aren't complete but I had to see how they would look. They really bring it to life.

I have the expo in a month or so and I want to focus on wrapping it up, so I'll put up images of the finished dio after that.

Empire I think had a later release date here, and the big movies played for months. Was probably still going well into 81.

As Bish advised, definitely watch it in German with the subtitles. Any other way just isn't right.

Does anyone know if the uncut version is available on disk by the way.

I distinctly remember Das  Boot coming out about the same time as The Empire Strikes Back, so what can I say? I was easily distracted back then.

Can't believe you have never watched it. Best war movie ever made. I like to watch it in German with the subtitles rather than dubbed.

You will love it.

I think I got my "Das Boot" DC Blu-ray at Best Buy for $6.

The director's cut? Good watching, but it is a long one. Take a couple of intermissions and you'll be fine.

Thanks kindly. I never noticed that optical illusion with the figure, that wasn't intentional. Those guys won't be used in this build, maybe for some other German naval project.

To me, modeling is a form of artwork, but this IS artwork!  Very creative!  (At first glance when I looked at the figure set, it looked as though one of the figures was lying in front of the conning tower.  I had to do a double take to see it was one of the packaged figures positioned against the package artwork!)

I have the same kit and a photo etch set sitting in the stash waiting for me to get to it, but haven't found what I was was really looking for yes as far as few crew members go, these ones you found may require having a look at, thanks!

These excellent crew figures from Germany, are the next task. I feel this thing is really going to 'pop' when I add these to the boat. I have a gun crew on it's way as well, but I may not have that done in time for an expo here next month. Fingers crossed anyway.

A few more additions to the deck, the sail is now stuck on.

Cheers, the water is coming along. I need to fix those areas up, they were a bit rushed. And I'll have water venting at certain spots, which should add some interest.

That's looking sweet. I love the effect of the water running off the sides.

Nearly complete tower.

The Eduard PE has really done wonders for the tower section. I have some U-boat crew figures on order from Zinnfiguren, can't wait to put those in the scene.
