Canvas over ship railings
Posted by glweeks on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 4:17 PM
I am modeling a little 1/400 ship and have installed photoetch railings, I was wondering how to create the canvas used over such railings to screen out the wind and spray. I've experimented with putting CA (superglue) between the rails (on scrap rail) and painting it white, but Sad [:(] it's just ok. What else? Tissue and white glue? Any ideas ?
Thanks guys...........

Yes, tissie and very weak white glue. Use a soft brusk DO NOT BRUSH, just let the paper soak up the glue water mixure. Once it's dry it will be hard. 1 drop to 5-5 drops of water should be just about right. EXPERIMENT FIRST!

Try Silk Span which model aircraft builders use. It's smooth without any of the fuzzy stuff.

I've heard some folks use white out, using the brush that comes in the little bottle.

Never tried it myself, of course... :)

GL:
I'd go with the airplane tissue and white glue idea.
Big Jake is right on again when he says to experiment first!
Enjoy!
