Aircraft Carrier Hangar Doors
Posted by rdmeyersr on Thursday, April 4, 2013 1:29 PM

Does anyone have clear images of the Elevator/Hangar doors of US Aircraft Carriers? I'm wanting to replace the doors on my Tamiya Enterprise but all I can find are interior shots of the doors. Thanks in advance,

Ron

For what it's worth, there have been different styles, so you might want to clarify a bit more in the future.

That said, the ones I know of online currently on the Navy.mil site are:

I agree with Tracy.  Which Enterprise do you mean?  '65 or CV-6?

I figure he means CVN-65. CV-6 had no side elevator although there were side openings that required doors.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

That was my guess too.  Tamiya has a 1/700th CV-6 an a 1/350th CVN-65, but the CVN seems far more likely based on his question.

I figured that was possible, too.  I asked, because of the rolling doors on the Yorktowns--and the Essexes.  I'm building the Hasegawa Essex and opening all of them up to see into the hangar deck.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
