I bought the Yankee Modelworks backdate set for my Trumpeter CV-2.  It contained the 4 8in turrets in resin with white metal barrels, lots more resin parts for the much different superstructure profile. a really nice fret of brass PE for railings, ladders, davits, pri-fly,  and the 8in gun director houses.

It was my first attempt at using resin parts but, it turns out that resin handles like a cross between fairly soft wood and soft plastic..  VERY easy to work with.  Just measure a whole bunch of times and only cut once.

BTW...I got my  Lex  and Trumpy's 1/350 USS North Carolina on the clearance table at Hobby Lobby

for $50 each.

All the best

Ray

I purchased the Lexington today.

What era? Well at the Battle of the Coral Sea, Butch O'Hare and all I suppose.

I've seen a few builds online with these earlier carriers having the 8 inch guns and yellow wing fighters, but I will hold back on that. More than anything this is a kick to finish CV-8 first. So I suppose this kit is salted away for now.

Squadron has Lexington, Franklin Ticonderoga and Hancock by Trumpeter in 1/350, each for $ 78.00.

Thinking on CV-2.
