air wing decals
Posted by USAFSPOOK on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 5:55 PM

I am not normally a ship builder and am not up on what is available and where to get after market items for ships and their air wings; I have used White Ensign before but need to get some more sources.  Specifically, I am trying to find both 1/350 and 1/700 scale markings for modern RAF and RN aircraft/helicopters (1982 Falklands period) and for the WWII carrier USS Cabot CVL-28.  Would prefer sources here in U.S. but overseas vendors are fine if they are the only sources around.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could try here for at least some generic markings, maybe:

Thanks, this is a great starting point.  Even found some update parts for my old Revell 1/540 USS Lexington, especially aircraft and markings to change to USS Wasp.  I appreciate the info!

You're very welcome.  I've used Mark's 1/700 and 1/72, and they are very good; they apply well.

They can have a tendency to fold over on themselves in an irretrievable tangle; and sometimes they are difficult to slide around and position on the kit--so it's good to use some MicroSet to float them into place.

Then, I apply a little MicroSol, and they settle in very well.

Good luck!
