Thanks Arnie.  Those look awsome and no need to worry about how one is going to make the seams between the kits deck pieces disapear.  Nice.

Yep.... the decks came in and here is a couple of shots of the gun deck ready to be mounted to the hull.

The camera I have (Iphone) really does not do justice to the actual appearance, the colors are a bit off in the pic, but I think it shows the color gradations of the planks pretty well. This decking is so thin (less than 1/100th inch) that what ever color you have underneath 'tints' through and no mods are needed to the hatch coamings or for mounting. I just left the undercoat primer gray for my build, but experimented w/ some scrap using different background coloring. Black will give it a grayish tint, but I just couldn't let go of the 'natural' color and its not that far off what the current incarnation of the Connie's decks look like.

The material is actual wood (maple) and the plank widths scale out to be 6 inches and covers the entire length of the deck [ say good bye to that seam problem ! ].  I tested adding on Longridges 4 step butt pattern to another piece of scrap, but It really just did not look right (for my taste), way too busy and nearly impossible to get the trenails right, so I am leaving it as is and letting the gradations "imply" the butt joints.

I ended up using a spray adhesive to attach it. I originally wanted to use testors red, but it was just one hell of a lot of surface area to cover, so I tried white glue first, which proved to be nearly disaterous as it started to bubble up after a couple hours. The spray adhesive worked really well, although I had to mask off everything that wasn't getting glue put on it.

I absolutely could not be happier with the final results! It was a bit spendy....$90.00, but you get both the gun deck and spar deck and a good sized piece of unplanked teak for the boats.

One of these days I will get around to posting my build, but I will post some more pics of this once I get the deck in place w/ the rest of the furniture and the guns.

Here's the link to purchase them : http://shop.scaledecks.com/1-96_c7.htm
