Davis_K, yes I'm very interested, thank you for the link!  My wife and I love Pirates of the Caribbean! And this is just a good excuse to get another model! Embarrassed

Eagle90,

I did a *buddy-build* of the American Version (The Black Swan) on this forum last year...I think there's still a bunch of pics...just imagine it with different coloring, and with a different figurehead...if you're interested.

I'm also very interested to see you build her, Starduster!!  Fun kit!

Eagle90, I haven't any photos of the ship as for mine it's all sealed and as a Christmas present from my wife I can't start it until next year, there's 2 websites The Clubhouse and Hobby Talk that has the same modeler building the Pearl with some great photos. I have other modeling projects to finish before working on the Pearl, it would be nice if Disney let this model be sold in the U.S.     Karl

Thanks starduster for the pics!  I was talking to a friend just the other day about this kit!  Do you have any pics of the kit itself?  I'm not a ship builder, so I have no grid as to what a 1/72 ship's size would be.  Can't wait to see the pics of your build!

I've built the US Version (The Black Swan)....it's a great build of a high-quality kit.  I loved the complexity of the rigging, and the detail of the parts (close to 900 in all)...

The only difference between the two versions are the figurehead (a lady instead of a Swan), and the nameplate.

The capstan IS around the mast, just like in the movie.

I would also love to find some good 1/72 figures...but not for my Swan...

I bought the Zombie pirates # MS72070 @ $ 10.80 at the same time I ordered the Black Pearl, they put the pirates in the box with the ship. I don't know about the capstan as the parts are all in sealed plastic. hope the photos and info helps.   Karl

Is the capstan concentric with the mast on that one too?

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Thanks, Starduster.  Could you tell us more about the figures - and where to get them?

For anyone wanting to model the Black Pearl pirate ship instead of the U.S. version the Black Swan an outfit in the Ukraine is selling the Disney 1/72nd scale Black Pearl, Hobby Terra is selling them for $ 125.50 included shipping,  I just received mine for $ 166.40 included shipping with a set of 1/72nd pirate figures. this company is prompt and courteous.   Karl
