Models like this were quite common in Spain in the early 70's.  They represent no particular ship and are not in any way scale models.  They were sold as decorator pieces.  Still pretty nice, though...

All the best

I would say that is supposed to be a galleon, and is likely not a kit build, but a one-off scratch built model.  I suspect it is not a model of any particular ship, just the builder's estimation of what a galleon looked like.  Your estimate on the age is reasonable- could be even older, or maybe a bit newer.

Posted by Robbie30 on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 9:00 AM

Hello!

My name is Robbie. I have recently acquired an old wooden model ship from my family. We believe it to be at least 60+ years old. I would love to contact someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in this subject matter. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
