I assume you are asking about the forward gun deck ports on the Constitution? If so, it is because there is evidence that there were only 15, not 16 gun ports on the gun deck for her 1812 configuration. If you go to page 1 of Force9's build, he goes into some detail about this

I left the ports there as I am going for a later configuration in my build.

Hope that helps.

thank's arnie, it's amazing what you can learn if you take the time to read the full story, some one has taken the trouble to tell. by the way your build is pretty amazing as well.

3/16" & 1/4" copper foil tape is very common at stores selling stained glass supplies. Something I have often wondered about is this, is what Bluejacket sells and what stained glass stores sell the same thing or is the tape intended for models thinner?

One place to buy copper tape locally is if you have a Michaels craft store in your town. It is sold for folks who make faux stained glass windows and most Michaels stores carry it.

Jim :

I don't know if it's thinner or not .I will tell you this though .It's substantial enough to work with a pounce wheel for rivet marks after installation and it works great for those who are Adult LEGO Fans who have the 9v controls and such and want to convert regular LEGO track for trains .It also makes a good patch for regular model railroad tracks .Now as to ships and such It's great for making a lot of bottom strips .You can overlap it or not .

Baremetal foil makes a copper if you don't have any luck with the tape.  I'm not hugely familiar with building the Constitution, but I imagine it would work well.  If you Google baremetal foil, it'll take you to their website and you can order it there.  It's really thin if you haven't used it before.  Hope that helps.
