Tamiya CVN 65 Enterprise Help

I've hit the first snag on my Enterprise build.  On the ship's bow are three holes.  The surface on the kit is flat but pictures of the ship show a rounded raised surface.  Any ideas how to make the raised "eyelets" around the hole's perimeter?    Also, do you have any suggestions on decals, after market parts, or the like.  There's a TON of stuff out there!  If you've done this kit is there anything you would do/not do if you were making this model over again?  Thanks!
