For future reference... ScaleDecks will run a sheet at your desired scale. It is less than 1/100th of an inch thick so you wont have such a pronounced problem w/ deck furniture. I haven't checked, but they do a lot of decks w/ all the cut outs for various models and may have one for the Arizona. Otherwise you would need to do all the cut outs your self. They also have a choice of woods and finishes.

Hi Hank

Yes... I did use the Artwox set, mainly because the Hobby Boss 1/350 Arizona has a terrible seam in full view across the deck.  This did a great job covering it.

The fit was perfect, but one must be careful, because when it was down, it was really down!  That said, over time, the deck lifted in places, making large gaps along the edges, or bubbles inboard of the edge.  The fixes for those we're simple - use CA applied with a needle or a small flat piece of sheet metal and reglue it.  For the blisters, make a thin slice along the grain and insert the CA and then press down.  The cut will disappear.

Overall this helped the model immensely, although it's not perfect.  It adds thickness to the deck, which makes some of the abutting deck fixtures appear to be sunken.  Also the grain is not scale.  From a distance it appears to be teak, but up close it loses it's accuracy because of the grain.

For other ships in 1/350 I still prefer to paint the decks and use washes and weathering to get the right appearance - especially those newer kits which do a superb job of moulding these details.

Hope this helps.

Harry
