1/48 CG Lifeboat Glencoe Kit
Posted by highlanderburial on Sunday, December 29, 2013 1:01 PM

Here are some pics of the completed model. I can not in good conscience recommend this kit to anyone who is looking for a super accurate version of this kit. As there are so few kits out there on CG subjects, it seemed like a nice kit to try out.

The crew figures suffered from serious flash and mold marks. This kit didn't fit together bad, but it had to be thoroughly scraped with a hobby knife. Once done it went together pretty well.

The kit was done for my Brother in Law who has a Lionel train layout with a harbor scene, so this boat was cut down to below the water line and mounted to acetate clear plastic. I didn't know what color his water was so that was what I did to make it fit in his chosen scene. Wake was created using plaster, epoxy and green dilluted ink for the breakers. Lower decking was replaced with basswood. I know the colors seem garish, but it is to be presented at a distance at table level, and needs to stand out.

Thanks for looking!
