Maybe it's because I'm semi-retired from a school whose athletic teams are known as the "Pirates." Or maybe it's because of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. (The first one was fun, but the others left me cold.) Or maybe it's because of the Queen Anne's Revenge hysteria in this neck of the woods. But I have to confess that if I never hear about, see, or read about another pirate in this lifetime, it will be too soon.
Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.
