On 10 July, 2013 the Navy announced that the USS Nicholas FFG-47 will be decommissioned in Norfolk on 10 March, 2014 exactly 30 years to the day from her commissioning. The remaining 6 Oliver Hazard Perry class Frigates will also be decommissioned in FY-14.
End of an era.
