Smoke For 1/200 Yamato
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 11:35 PM
Hope someone can help me out here. I am building the Nichimo1/200 Yamato and i thought it would be pretty cool to have a bunch of smoke coming from the stack as I drive around the pond (sorry I forgot to mention this is the RC version)
I have looked around & found smoke generators for trains like Seuthe, but Im not sure if this would work well outdoors or if the smoke would just be too thin. Any ideas on what I might do to get some realistic smoke for this monster?
There is plenty of room in the hull so space/ weight is no problem.
I would appreciate any advise & also let me know if this is just a really bad idea or waste of time.
Thanks !!

Boy it must be smokers week.
You might check into g-scale train smokers, but do not get one designed for steam engines because it will chuff. They typically run on 9-14 volts

Bilge:
You'll probably want to check out a model RR club to see for yourself if the effect is what you are looking for.

Remember too you can add things like light oil to the 'smoke' mix to darken it up.

Good luck,

Making a smoke generator yourself, really isn't difficult, all you need is a heatsource (in trains, little lightbulbs are used, but you could use some kind of glowing wire) and a heat resistant container just above the source, you poure in the oil and bingo you have smoke....
