Hi rod\g,
Glad you like the model, nice kit alright. I left the ratlines as they were because it is a quick build and did not want to go ott on this one. But to be fair you can make these ratlines work if you bend the footings with a warm needle. Then paint them deck tan by tamiya and the uppers in gun metal. That is why i just painted them in deck tan so they would not stand out as much which they dont once the sails are on. I will be testing the needle theory on the vasa so will let you know.
G, i was looking at that 1:200 academy kit but i was not sure if it was any good, did youbuild this kit, would like to see\hear more on that because it is cheap as chips on amazon at the mo.
I actually have a thing about model boxes, i just love the feel and look of them. I love the revell boxes and i loved the bounty box, its perfect and if only revell did more in this size box, would be great. I storemy models in my bedroom so dont usebox ends as they are always on the move during construction between two floors. Im like a little child when it comes to model boxes.
I must say the worst kit i have built to date is the heller superbe, fitting is actually worse than airfix victory, beautiful details though. I spent 2 hours alone on quarterdeck, beware of that one
