The USS North Dakota is not a "Boomer" Mac in fact she is a Virginia class fast attack boat along the lines of the Seawolf and Jimmy Carter class fast attack boats. Dragon though will be re-releasing their Ohio class 1/350 "Boomer" as the USS Florida with the divers drydocks  and hopefully other modifications sometime next month.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

At 1/350, a person could argue for sanding the hull smooth, and simply executing some new nameplate decals.  Modern US boomers are studies in dark charcoal gray and black.

Yes, you are probably right.  If nothing is released, that is the route I will go.  And I'm guessing nothing will.  Finding the Virginia is difficult enough.

And thanks for the link to the pics of BB-29.  As you guessed, she is also on my to-do list. Smile

We need the wisdom of one of our resident dolphin-winged brethren.

At 1/350, a person could argue for sanding the hull smooth, and simply executing some new nameplate decals.  Modern US boomers are studies in dark charcoal gray and black.  I'll wager that detailed photos of the VPM and propulsor will be hard to come by

Not that it would be much easier to detail a Delaware kit to modify into BB-29.  But, NavSource (http://www.navsource.org/archives/01/29a.htm) does have a bunch of photo references of BB-29.

USS North Dakota SSN-784 kit coming?

I'm not a ship guy, but I would like to build a a model of the new USS North Dakota (state pride). Have any of you seen any news from any of the model companies about a kit being in the works?

I had thought about getting a USS Virginia and making whatever changes were necessary to "turn her into" a North Dakota.  But after more research I learned that the North Dakota will be the first boat in the class to have a revised bow and 2 missile tubes compared to 12 in the previous Virginia class subs.  So, I guess I'm just hoping someone makes a kit.

Thanks for any info anyone can give me!
