I'm using two sets of PE on my Trumpeter Lexington.  The first is the Gold Medal Models set and, since I'm backdating my Lex to late 1941, the Yankee Modelworks backdate set consisting of resin, brass PE, and, white metal parts.

It is hard to say unless one has built two kits, one with each set. Personally, I used the Tom's set on my Lex, and was very satisified with the way the ship came out.  The kit itself is awesome too!

I don't think you can lose with either choice. I personally prefer GMM, but I have occasionally used some PE from Tom's. That is a great model of a really great ship. You should have lots of fun building it!

Trumpeter - USS Lexington CV-2 PE Sets

I just acquired the Trumpeter 1/350 scale USS Lexington.  I am going to get a PE set for it and have read the reviews for both the GMM and Tom's Modelworks sets.  I think I know which set I want to get but I thought I'd ask for your opinions and see what the general consensus was before spending my money.

Thanks,

Steve
