Jeff, another Fletcher camo question.

Jeff, I'm doing 2 Tamiya 1/350 Fletchers's and according to the shipcamouflage.com web site the Fletcher herself had MS 21 in 1943 (the year I am modeling). One will be the Fletcher and I'm not sure on the other, but they won't be together when done.
It also said that in '42 she had MS 12 mod, and in '44 MS 31/2c. So can you give me appox timeframe of when she wore MS 21(dates)?

forgive me for asking, but did the Fletch leave for the pacific wearing Mod12 or was this painted out prior? And roughly what dates was the transfer of Mod12 to Mod21 and where was it done?

That's what I'd like to know.

Fletcher was commissioned in Jun of '42 wearing Measure 12 Revised. There's been some speculation that she repainted out of Ms12R prior to leaving Pearl, but I seriously doubt this since she never went to Pearl prior to depoying. She transited the Panama Canal with O'Bannon on Sept. 10 & 11, then arrived in Noumea on the 5th of October.

She carried Ms12R through December of '42 and repainted into Ms 21 in January of '43. She most likely repainted into Ms 21 between January 10th and 20th when she was drydocked at Nomuea for repairs. She stayed in Ms21 until September of '44 when she repainted into Ms 32/2c, ironically, a cruiser pattern. She wore that until July of 45 when she repainted into Ms 21.

That's my opinion....
