modern carrier color question

The Mil-Std specification for modern USN Haze Gray is 26270.   Model Master Neutral Gray is 36270,  the difference being flat vs semi-gloss.    Depending on the length of the cruise, the weather conditions, and the time of day, it photographs as anywhere from light pink to light blue.  

(You may choose to lighten the paint out of the bottle neutral gray some for scale effect,  but the MM Neutral Gray is my go-to choice).

I also use MM Gunship Gray for decks and MM Engine Gray for new, unworn flight deck no-skid.   However it soon weathers to Gunship

Oh its been a while but the USN has switched to polysiloxane paint. The  last version of paint before this had a problem where pigments weathered differently. The red pigment didn't fade as quickly resulting in pinkish gray looking ships. If your interested the USN's Haze gray is commercially available: PXLE-80 from Sherwin Williams, PSX-700 from PPG, and Interfine 979 from International Paint. Its $70 to $100 a can. So you can paint your house or car or boat haze gray if you want to.
