I just used the PE set on mine, the scale difference isn't too noticeable except  the air search radars SPS 40 and SPS 43 need to be trimmed a bit around the edges in order to fit  and look right.  The railings and stairs fit fine.  Aircraft seem a tad too big but I'm using them anyway.

It kinda worried me at first, but the 1/500 kit is 533mm overall length and the 1/540 kit is 508mm so that's a frog hair under an inch lengthwise so I think the scale difference might be livable. :)

I'll be interested to see that PE set. The scale difference worries me

I sympathize completely.  My I-phone  is always trying to "correct" stuff that didn't need correcting.  Infernal computers.

Oops. Just noticed the title says "Renewal" instead of Renwal. Silly tablet autocorrect...

Groovy! Thank you ! That's where I'm getting them. Also gonna get the deck markings set #500-100. Going to Gold Medal for PE set 540-6 for radars and other goodies! The only obstacle is convincing my wife to let me pop 3 times the kit price for it all lol!

Try www.starfighter-decals.com . It's a "cottage industry" company they offers lots of resin aircraft (and other parts, and decals) for the old Revell and Renwal carriers. I haven't seen them in the flesh, but in the photos they look really nice. And the prices aren't bad.

Renewal Shangri-La

Howdy folks! I just purchased the 1/500 scale Renewal Shangri-La and I am thinking about updating it to just before she was retired from service. Is there any one anywhere that makes 1/500 scale aircraft sets in plastic or resin? A few A-4s and F-8s would be cool. Thanks so much :)
