I have  older Matchbox 1/72 scale corvette and I'm slowly working on it but the painting instructions suck can any one give me a link or help on painting it I'm trying to paint it like the U.S.S Saucy. I'm not very good at judging colors.

Paints of that era faded rapidly and chalked a lot.  And those Corvettes saw extreme environments, so I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you are depicting it fresh from the shipyard.  Rust color covers up a multitude of sins :-)  You can use lots of grimy washes, too.

Hi DON :

The Matchbox kit ? Isn't that the one that is so small you can't tell what it is anyway ? A matchbox kit . He! He! .I have that beast too. Converted it to R.C. and used a multi layer wash effect in the colors called for .There's so much rust , it looks like a derelict except the Very clean guns !

I think anyone can do it up proud .Just don't try to match " just out of the builders yard colors " . For some reason that ship looks wrong all pristine and unused !

No, Matchbox is one of the brands (I think the latest repop) of the big 1:72 version. It is huge!  I am working on scratching the main gun, so it will be awhile before I start the actual ship.

There is a new deluxe version of the kit with all sorts of PE stuff, but like urich, I have one of the earlier releases, though I bought mine JUST before they did the deluxe version.

Matchbox was the original maker of the kit.  It must go back 25 to 30 years ago.

Revell of Germany picked up many of the old Matchbox kits after its demise.    Many of these kits have been re-released under the Revell/Revell AG labels with minimal changes -- often just changing the plastic colors to one as opposed to three or four
