1:600 PE rigging?
Posted by Don Stauffer on Thursday, July 24, 2014 8:47 AM

I'm working on the Hasagawa 1:350 Cutty Sark, using shroud/ratline assemblies from a sheet of 1:350 PE.  Looking nice so far- my first use of PE rigging. I was looking through my stash yesterday, and I have three of the old Heller 1:600 sailing warships.  Does anyone make PE rigging in 1:600?

Don, I have a set of 1/500-1/550 that I bought for a Heller 1/500 Le Superbe build that I'm working on now.
I think that I bought them from Battle Fleet but I'll have to check it when I get home.
They look pretty good and will look great once they are installed.
I think that they may list a set for 1/600 also.
Hope this helps.

Don, take a look at these: www.whiteensignmodels.com/.../1 .

I haven't tried them, but they look impressive. I gather the idea is that they can be cut down to fit a wide variety of models.  I seem to recall that Atlantic Models is a trade name of Peter Hall, who does much of the design work for White Ensign. I may be mistaken about that, though.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Yes!  That is what I am looking for!

On the set I bought in 1:350 there are about a half dozen sets, of different lengths.  Used as is, they include the deadeyes and lanyards.  None in the set is short enough for the upper masts, but I believe I can chop them up a bit and doctor them for those masts.

Gee, after going to the white ensign site, I finished reading a few other forums, then went back to white ensign's site, and couldn't find that stuff.  Seems like maybe their cookie processing only allows you to look at a product once when you search for something!  Hopefully if I wait a few days it'll let me see those again :-)

Don,

Sorry for taking so long to get back with you on this.  I'm doing bathroom renovations and it just eats up my free time.

The set I was talking about above did come from Battlefleet Models.  It is Atlantic Models # ATEM 11 in 1/500 - 1/550 scale.

Mr. Tilley was correct above, they are by Peter Hall.

Hope this helps.
